KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) chair Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition would not stop MIC or any party from leaving, signalling worsening internal strains. His statement marks a reversal from last week’s pledge to reconcile with MIC and MCA leaders.

Zahid expressed hope that MIC would make a “wise decision” at its Nov 16 annual general meeting, which will exclude all BN leaders. Tensions have mounted since MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran accused Zahid of being a “liar” and criticised BN’s electoral arrangements with Pakatan Harapan, deepening rifts within the once-dominant alliance.
