The Pentagon has accused Netflix of promoting an “ideological agenda” through its new series Boots, a comedic drama about a closeted gay Marine recruit. Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson called the show “woke garbage,” saying the Trump administration and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth aim to restore the U.S. military’s “warrior ethos.”

The White House echoed the criticism, labelling the series “too woke.” Boots, which premiered on October 9, stars Miles Heizer and is based on Marine veteran Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine. The administration has vowed to eliminate DEI programs and reimpose stricter military standards.
