Hundreds gathered at the Nirvana Memorial Centre in Kuala Lumpur to bid farewell to Form Three student Yap Shing Xuen, who died in a school stabbing. Family members, friends, teachers, and classmates attended the solemn ceremony, where Yap’s mother wept during the eulogy.

Attendees performed the traditional three bows rite before the casket was sealed and placed into the hearse. Bouquets and wreaths lined the hall, while the funeral was broadcast to those outside. As Yap’s cortege departed for cremation in Shah Alam, mourners released 100 blue balloons — her favourite colour — symbolising her final journey.
