The Road Transport Department (JPJ) detained two illegal drivers at KLIA Terminal 1 for offering unlicensed taxi services to foreign tourists. One driver, aged 46, was seen pleading with Bangladeshi tourists for RM80 to Petaling Jaya, while another, aged 56, charged RM60 to Myanmar tourists heading to Jalan Sultan.

RM80 Ride Offer Turns to Arrest

Both Perodua Alza vehicles were seized for investigation. If convicted under Section 205(1) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, they face up to RM50,000 in fines or five years’ jail. The crackdown follows a previous KLIA Terminal 2 case where a Chinese tourist was coerced into paying RM836 for a ride.
