Former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has denied claims of a plot to remove Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin to enable the party’s return to power. He said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who leads PKR, does not share such political manoeuvres with party leaders.
Crisis in Bersatu
The allegation came from Muhyiddin’s former aide Marzuki Mohamad, who claimed rivals sought to “retire” the Bersatu chief as part of a government deal. Bersatu has faced internal turmoil, with suspensions and expulsions of senior leaders accused of pressuring Muhyiddin to step down for Hamzah Zainudin. The party’s annual meeting saw open dissent, highlighting growing cracks in Muhyiddin’s leadership amid declining unity within Perikatan Nasional.
