PENANG: A self-proclaimed influencer learned the hard way that “exposure” doesn’t pay for curry. The man, flaunting 40,000 TikTok followers, waltzed into Nasi Kandar Sulaiman and asked for a free meal worth RM53 in exchange for a shoutout.

Influencer pay up
The stall owner, who boasts 190,000 Facebook followers, politely refused, insisting everyone pays — even influencers. After finishing his meal, the TikToker made one last attempt, claiming, “I’m an influencer.” The owner replied with the day’s best punchline: “I’m a businessman.” The story has since gone viral, with netizens applauding the stall’s no-nonsense approach.
