New: 50 anti-Trump protesters arrested near US embassy in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested about 50 demonstrators from a motorcycle convoy protesting against US President Donald Trump’s arrival in Malaysia tomorrow. The group, carrying Palestinian flags and chanting “rise Malaysia and chase Donald Trump away,” was stopped about 100 metres from the US embassy at Menara Tabung Haji around 10pm.

Officers instructed the protesters to walk their vehicles to the Jalan Tun Razak police station, where the motorcycles were seized. The arrests followed a larger protest by 700 people outside the embassy yesterday. Kuala Lumpur police have since warned organisers against holding further demonstrations near the Ampang Park MRT station.
