On October 25, 2025, Salehuddin, a 41-year-old Indonesian, was charged with murdering his 38-year-old wife, Nurdia Rahmah Rery, in a room at the Capri by Fraser China Square hotel in Singapore between 3am and 5am on October 24. He reported the crime to Bukit Merah East Neighbourhood Police Centre at 7.40am, where paramedics later confirmed his wife’s death.

In court, Salehuddin, appearing calm, requested prosecution in Indonesia, fearing a death sentence. District Judge Tan Jen Tse ordered a three-week psychiatric evaluation. If convicted of murder, Salehuddin faces Singapore’s mandatory death penalty.
