Malaysians Urged to Wear Dark Attire in Thailand to Honour Late Queen Mother Sirikit

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 26 — Malaysians visiting Thailand are encouraged to wear black, white, or dark-coloured clothing to show respect following the passing of Queen Mother Sirikit, 93, mother of King Vajiralongkorn. Association of Halal Trade and Tourism Thailand–Southeast Asia president Aida Oujeh said the gesture would be appreciated during the national mourning period.

Dark Attire

Thailand will fly flags at half-mast for 30 days, with mourning attire observed for three months. Visitors paying respects at the royal palace are advised to dress formally. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also extended Malaysia’s condolences during the 47th Asean Summit in Kuala Lumpur.
