During the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim shared a candid moment with US President Donald Trump ahead of the signing of the Cambodia–Thailand peace accord.

Anwar joked that he and Trump had something in common—he had been to jail, and Trump nearly was, referencing Trump’s recent conviction and conditional discharge. The two leaders also discussed broader peace efforts during a ride in Trump’s presidential limousine,
“The Beast,” which defied standard security protocol. Anwar praised Trump’s boldness, saying that “sometimes leaders need to bend the rules to strive for peace.”
