Proton Saga Hits 156km/h in Australia Racetrack Test Using Pepsi as Coolant, Impressing YouTuber

KUALA LUMPUR: A 2008 Proton Saga has gone viral after an Australian YouTuber, Garbage Time, used Pepsi as a coolant and achieved 156km/h at The Bend Motorsport Park. Known as the S16 Saga in Australia, the car previously underwent a failed Nutella engine oil test. Despite slight understeering, the car—nicknamed “Goober”—reached 120km/h at one corner before maxing out at 156km/h on the straight.

The YouTuber praised the Malaysian-made vehicle’s performance, calling it “magic under there.” Posted last month, the video has surpassed 250,000 views, reigniting global interest in Proton’s engineering durability and quirky automotive experiments.
