Lynas Rare Earths Ltd will expand its Malaysian refinery to boost processing of heavy rare earths, vital for robotics, advanced tech, and military use. The company, the only non-China supplier of both light and heavy rare earth oxides, will build a new separation facility to process ore from its Mount Weld mine in Australia and other Malaysian sources.
RM497 Million Boost as Lynas Building Facilities
CEO Amanda Lacaze said global demand allows Lynas to be selective in pricing and supply. The RM497 million project aligns with US, EU, and Japan efforts to reduce reliance on China. First production is expected in April 2026, marking a key industrial milestone.
