Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur DAP treasurer Ben Fong has urged the government to grant a one-off RM5,000 payment to small traders and food operators whose businesses were affected by disruptions during the recent Asean Summit.

He said many outlets, especially in Bukit Bintang, saw revenue drops of around 25 percent due to road closures and diversions.

Fong suggested the aid apply to businesses with annual turnovers below RM500,000, saying it would be a goodwill gesture recognising their struggles.

He added that the Inland Revenue Board could easily identify eligible recipients through existing business records.
