Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin is reportedly set to rejoin UMNO ahead of the Sabah state election, with party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said to have given his blessing during a recent meeting.
Khairy to Rejoin UMNO
Khairy, who was sacked in January 2023 for breaching party discipline, is expected to assist UMNO and Barisan Nasional in campaigning, particularly among younger candidates. BN is also considering fielding him in Kepala Batas for GE16—a seat once held by his father-in-law, former PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
While Khairy has yet to submit a formal application, his return signals a potential political recalibration within UMNO.
