KUALA LUMPUR: RHB Banking Group has terminated a Kedah-based staff member who shared a doctored Facebook image of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wearing an Israeli flag saree. The bank confirmed the employee’s dismissal effective Oct 31, citing its zero-tolerance policy toward behaviour breaching its Code of Ethics.

The employee, identified as Siti Nurziswanis Mohd Zain, had earlier apologised. Former editor Norman Radzuan urged compassion, describing her as a victim of “narrow-minded, racist politics” and “political propaganda” that misleads fence-sitters into extremism. He said the case should serve as a lesson in social media responsibility. Was it too harsh? Just asking for a friend.
