A 53-year-old man was sentenced to 54 years in prison and 24 strokes of the cane by the Kuching High Court for sexually assaulting his 13-year-old stepdaughter on October 4, 5, and 6. Judge Musli Ab Hamid convicted him under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 after a guilty plea.
Stepfather Jailed
Each charge carried 15 years’ jail and six strokes, plus three years and two strokes under Section 16(1), to run consecutively. The victim reported ongoing abuse since age eight. The court ordered rehabilitation and two years’ police supervision post-release.
