An American father and son, Daniel Owen, 47, and Cooper Owen, 15, died after being attacked by Asian giant hornets while zip-lining at Green Jungle Park near Luang Prabang, Laos, on October 15. The pair, stung more than a hundred times, were rushed to a nearby hospital but died hours later.

Deadly Hornet Attack

Local authorities said the attack occurred while they were in a tree with their guide. Medical experts called the incident unprecedented, as fatalities from hornet stings are rare in the region. The eco-park has since reviewed its safety protocols following the tragic event.
