The Malaysian government is reviewing licensing and identity verification for online games and apps to protect children from digital risks. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said platforms like Roblox currently operate outside licensing frameworks, prompting concerns after a recent incident in Batu Pahat involving two siblings.

Fahmi met with Roblox representatives to discuss safety limits and noted the platform restricts certain features for users under 13. The government is considering AI-driven age checks and e-KYC using MyKad or passports. Fahmi emphasized parental responsibility and urged MCMC to enhance public awareness through the Safe Internet campaign. App companies may be summoned for review.
