Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo rebuked PAS MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari for alleging that Malaysia’s reciprocal trade agreement (ART) with the United States had handed the nation’s “digital keys” to a foreign power. Gobind urged Fadhli to study the document before making baseless accusations and to “ask intelligent questions.”
Gobind Refuses
Fadhli had claimed the ART lacked provisions supporting AI development and risked limiting Malaysia’s diplomatic freedom. Gobind dismissed the claims, affirming Malaysia’s sovereignty and readiness to clarify the matter. The Attorney-General’s Chambers also confirmed that the ART fully safeguards national interests and does not compromise Malaysia’s autonomy.
