Vietnam will introduce fines for parents or family members who force children to study “excessively,” marking the first time such behavior is punishable by law. Beginning December 15, 2025, offenders face penalties of 5–10 million dong (RM793–RM1,590) and may be required to issue formal apologies.

The decree also covers other forms of psychological harm, including preventing family contact, discrimination, or insults.
