Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed criticism from retired Thai general Rangsi Kitiyansap, who accused him of harming Thailand’s economy through the Cambodia–Thailand peace accord. Speaking in Bukit Mertajam, Anwar described the claims as “baseless,” saying the former general led a party that “never won a single election.”
Regional peace deal
Meanwhile, former Indonesian Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) expressed embarrassment over former U.S. president Donald Trump’s involvement in mediating the peace deal. SBY said Trump’s role undermined ASEAN’s principle of regional autonomy, emphasizing that Southeast Asian disputes should be resolved through ASEAN mechanisms, not foreign intervention.
