A Chinese woman dubbed the “Goddess of Wealth” faces up to 14 years in prison after British police uncovered the country’s largest cryptocurrency seizure—Bitcoin worth over US$6 billion. She allegedly defrauded more than 128,000 investors in China between 2014 and 2017 before fleeing to the UK using fake documents.

A Malaysian accomplice, Seng Hok Ling, also 47, admitted to money laundering at the same court earlier and is also due to be sentenced.

Prosecutors said she laundered the funds through luxury property purchases, including a £23 million London mansion. Her arrest in 2024 followed police surveillance that also led to the confiscation of cash, gold, and crypto assets worth £11 million. A compensation scheme for victims is under court review.
