KUALA LUMPUR — Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) took a crucial step toward another FA Cup final after defeating Kuching City FC 2-1 in the first leg of the semi-final at the State Stadium in Sarawak. Bergson da Silva opened the scoring in the 36th minute before doubling JDT’s lead early in the second half with another clinical finish.

Kuching City reduced the deficit through Petrus Shitembi’s strike in the 68th minute but failed to find an equaliser. The away victory gives JDT a vital advantage ahead of the return leg at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Johor.
