A minor ground collapse occurred yesterday morning on Jalan Bunus, Masjid India, sparking concern after last year’s deadly sinkhole tragedy in the same area.

Masjid India Collapse NOT Sinkhole

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif assured the public it was a case of ground settlement, not a sinkhole, with no burst pipes or underground leaks detected.

DBKL has appointed a geotechnical consultant to monitor the site, while multiple agencies investigated and contractors repaired the affected stretch by evening. The incident comes weeks after authorities confirmed last year’s sinkhole was caused by a corroded sewer pipe. Wider soil stability checks across KL are ongoing.
