Perodua will launch its first fully Malaysian-made electric vehicle (EV) at the end of this month, a move Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described as part of the national agenda. He said the affordable EV reflects Malaysia’s research and development strength and the discipline of its workforce, while boosting the economy.
Perodua to Launch Affordable EV
Perodua CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad noted the company has produced 5.5 million vehicles over 32 years and invested RM13.4 billion since 1993. The EV, priced below RM80,000, will initially be assembled at Perodua’s new Rawang plant, with monthly production of 500 units targeting young buyers and families.
