The mystery behind a Malaysian man’s shooting in Sungai Golok has taken a clearer turn. Thai police now say the killing had nothing to do with drugs, but everything to do with money—and pride. The 33-year-old victim from Pasir Mas was allegedly shot dead by a former Kelantan footballer after repeated disputes over unpaid debts from a clothing business.

Fatal Shooting

Investigations revealed the two men had argued several times over the past year, each time narrowly avoiding violence. But their final confrontation turned deadly when tempers flared again. The shooter apparently emptying a gun on the victim. The victim’s wife held the victim in her embrace after the incident. Thai police have ruled out any narcotics link to the tragedy.
