A first-generation electric sedan that once cost more than AUD100,000 -RM270,048.10- in Australia is now appearing on resale platforms for as little as AUD24,200, reflecting an almost 80 per cent drop in value. Similar 2020 models are commonly listed between AUD28,000 and AUD30,000.

Analysts attribute the steep depreciation to rapid advances in electric vehicle technology, which have left earlier models outdated much faster than traditional petrol cars. They say residual values for EVs remain uncertain as the market adapts and newer, more efficient models continue to replace early-generation vehicles at a swift pace.
