A 55-year-old man in China was arrested after CCTV footage revealed him assaulting his 92-year-old mother. Despite being the victim, the elderly woman paid RMB500 (~RM290) to bail him out, saying she was worried about his health as he is diabetic.

The incident, which occurred on November 10, was reported to police after family members reviewed the surveillance video.
Neighbours suggested his mother’s dementia and minor mistakes triggered his temper, though others speculated alcohol was involved. His cousin denied drinking was a factor, describing him as spoiled but “not a bad person.” The case has sparked widespread public outrage.
