The High Court has rejected Najib Razak and his son Mohd Nazifuddin’s appeal to delay bankruptcy proceedings linked to staggering tax arrears of RM1.69 billion and RM37.6 million respectively. Judicial Commissioner Suhendran Sockanathan @ Saheran Abdullah ruled that the pair failed to show any compelling grounds to halt the process, stressing that courts exist to facilitate tax collection, not obstruct it.

He said all arguments raised by the former prime minister and his son—including claims of inaccurate assessments and political donations—fall under the jurisdiction of the Special Commissioners of Income Tax, not the court.
