A source close to the family said: 'The way John was treated was outrageous.'

A Marlborough College physics teacher’s death has been linked to allegations arising from an exchange trip to Marlborough College Malaysia. John Wright, 54, was found hanged at his home after being dismissed for what was described as inappropriate conduct during the 17-day programme involving 29 pupils.

His behaviour on the Malaysia trip was ruled improper after an internal investigation and disciplinary hearing. The findings were upheld on appeal. His family has been reported as distressed by the process he faced before his death. An inquest at Wiltshire Coroners Court recorded a cause of death of asphyxiation and was adjourned.

John Wright taught for a decade at the £60,000-a-year school, one of the most prestigious independents in the country which counts Kate Middleton among former pupils.
