Authorities detained 31 underage Malaysian teenagers for allegedly using other people’s identity cards to secure part-time jobs at a box factory in Johor’s Taman Teknologi, Senai. The group comprised 16 boys and 15 girls. Investigations showed many used relatives’ ICs to bypass age restrictions.

Some left school as early as 12, while others were still studying and claimed they worked only during school holidays. All detainees were under 18, with the youngest aged 14. Officials said the case highlights rising underage employment concerns and the misuse of identification documents to gain illegal access to the workforce.
