A formal investigation has been ordered by FIFA into the internal operations of the Football Association of Malaysia after falsified documents were used to register seven foreign-born players for national duty. Concerns were raised by FIFA’s appeal committee over FAM’s failure to identify those responsible, noting that no staff suspensions, dismissals, or referrals had been carried out.

Sanctions imposed in September were upheld, with fines issued to FAM and the players. The matter is expected to be taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The roles of the secretary-general and two licensed agents will be examined.
