Residents of Pantai Ria People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Kuala Lumpur have transformed their Block B, Level 12 lobby, proving that public housing can be beautiful and well-kept.

RM10k Community Effort

The initiative began with a RM300 grant from DBKL for repainting, but the total cost reached RM10,000, covered through collective contributions of RM100 per household and donations of recycled items and skills.

Men carried out wiring and carpentry, while women cooked together, fostering community spirit. CCTV was installed to encourage responsibility and deter vandalism. The effort not only beautified the space but also challenged the stigma of PPR as dirty or neglected.
