Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed calls for Sabah’s next government to be led solely by local parties, stressing that governance matters more than party origin.
Governance Key for Sabah’s Future
He said weak governance in the past left Sabah struggling with issues tied to timber, land, and water resources. Anwar, also Pakatan Harapan chairman, noted that whether a party is peninsula-based or Sabah-based is irrelevant if it serves the people.
Ahead of the 17th Sabah state election on November 29, the sentiment has caused Sabah Progressive Party and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku to quit Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, while Warisan vowed not to work with peninsula coalitions.
