Singapore has confirmed that Malaysian citizen Saminathan Selvaraju will be executed on Nov 27 for drug-trafficking offences. His family has been granted extended visits until Nov 26, according to a notice from the Singapore Prison Service. Saminathan was among four prisoners affected by an Aug 28 ruling in which the Court of Appeal upheld provisions in the Misuse of Drugs Act that place the burden on defendants to rebut drug-related presumptions.

All four men had exhausted their appeals. The decision follows the executions of K Datchinamurthy in September and Pannir Selvam Pranthaman in October, which drew strong criticism from rights advocates.
