Reformasi veteran Mohd Sayuti Omar has criticised former economy minister Rafizi Ramli for his remarks questioning Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s response to issues linked to political secretary Shamsul Iskandar. Sayuti said Rafizi’s claim that Anwar’s explanation lacked impact and that repeated corruption arrests were not followed by adequate prosecutions was misplaced.

He argued Rafizi’s public criticism appeared opportunistic, noting it came only after Rafizi’s defeat in the PKR deputy presidency contest. Sayuti questioned why Rafizi did not voice such concerns while in leadership, adding that his current statements risked undermining the coalition during the Sabah election. He said Rafizi’s political judgement required refinement to avoid unnecessary internal damage.
