Rights group now pressures Malaysia on Ruth Sitepu

Indonesian human rights group Kontras has called on Putrajaya to urgently resolve the disappearance of Indonesian citizen Ruth Sitepu, citing recent High Court rulings that held the Malaysian government liable for the enforced disappearances of pastor Raymond Koh and activist Amri Che Mat.

Kontras said the decisions should set a precedent for Ruth’s case, noting Suhakam’s findings that linked the disappearances of Ruth, her husband Joshua Hilmy, Amri, and Koh. The organisation also urged Jakarta to apply pressure on Malaysia. Ruth’s family hopes both governments will intensify efforts to determine her fate.
