Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has strongly denied Thai nationalist accusations that Malaysia meddled in the Thailand-Cambodia border conflict, insisting Kuala Lumpur only acted as a neutral facilitator in its capacity as ASEAN 2025 chair. Speaking in Johannesburg, Anwar stressed Malaysia never prescribed solutions and merely enabled military and diplomatic communication between the two neighbours.

In Bangkok, hundreds rallied outside the Malaysian Embassy, organised by the “United Power of the Land to Protect Sovereignty” group, demanding Anwar cease “interference”. The protest follows the collapse of an Oct 26 KL-brokered accord after a landmine incident. Demonstrators also plan action against the US Embassy over alleged trade-pressure links.
