One traveler, Sani Halid, described how floodwaters rose gradually after his group’s arrival on November 21, eventually surrounding their hotel, Hatyai Paradise. Electricity was cut off, with generators used sparingly, and by Sunday, water supply was limited to the lobby restroom.

Locals also contributed aid. While travel agents are working to help stranded tourists reach the border, rising floodwaters continue to delay departures and heighten uncertainty.
