Beijing has demanded a retraction and warned of further countermeasures after restricting travel, banning Japanese seafood and criticising Tokyo through diplomatic channels.

China’s foreign ministry said global attention should focus on Japan’s intentions, while Takaichi insisted her comments reflected existing policy.
