Beijing has demanded a retraction and warned of further countermeasures after restricting travel, banning Japanese seafood and criticising Tokyo through diplomatic channels.

A deleted post by China’s consul general in Osaka signalled the resurgence of the hawkish approach, echoed by embassies in countries once occupied by Japan. China’s foreign ministry said global attention should focus on Japan’s intentions, while Takaichi insisted her comments reflected existing policy.
