Businessperson Albert Tei met Dr Mahathir Mohamad and claimed he had been “ordered” to record the videos at the centre of Sabah’s corruption scandal. Tei said he handed Mahathir a 340-page dossier and a video during their meeting at Yayasan Perdana.

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari later posted their photo, alleging Tei had complained about a group behind the directive to release the incriminating clips. He suggested a broader conspiracy and said the mastermind was unlikely to be an ordinary figure. Tei has been publicly targeting politicians he claimed received payments tied to his failed mineral exploration bid.
