Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated that he will not protect anyone suspected of misconduct or corruption, including his former political secretary Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
Anwar says No Protection for Suspects in Corruption Cases
Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil said Anwar emphasized this during a Cabinet meeting, reminding ministers not to shield their officers if wrongdoing occurs. Shamsul appeared at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters to give a statement regarding a viral video involving business figure Albert Tei.
Fahmi stressed that no one is above the law, while noting that PKR has yet to discuss Shamsul’s political future following his resignation as Anwar’s aide.
