SPRM Seeks Remand for Shamsul Iskandar and Albert Tei in Sabah Graft Probe

PUTRAJAYA, 29 Nov 2025 – Businessman Albert Tei (real name Tei Jiann Cheing) was remanded for six days from today to assist the MACC in investigating a leaked video of his conversation with Sofia Rini Buyong. Shamsul Iskandar also gets a remand of 6 days.

Magistrate Fatin Muneerah Sofian approved the order this morning. Tei arrived at the Putrajaya court complex in an MACC van alongside former PM’s senior political secretary Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, whose own remand hearing is ongoing.

MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki called Tei the “most crucial” figure in the case involving Shamsul Iskandar. Tei has been issued a Section 28A(9) notice barring contact with lawyers or outsiders. Sofia Rini was remanded four days yesterday.
