The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will seek remand orders in Putrajaya tomorrow for businessman Albert Tei and Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin to assist its graft investigation. The probe focuses on claims that Tei provided illicit payments to recover funds allegedly channelled to several Sabah state assembly members.
Remand
Three key individuals have been detained: Shamsul Iskandar, Tei, and Sofia Rini Buyong. Sofia was arrested on 27 November and remanded for four days, while Tei was detained at his home on 28 November after refusing to cooperate. Shamsul was arrested after giving his statement at the MACC office.
The commission said the investigation is being conducted professionally, with case papers targeted for completion within a week.
