Sabah Political Heavyweights Fall as Voters Reject Veteran Leaders: Several veteran Sabah politicians lost their bids for state seats as shifting voter sentiment reshaped outcomes across multiple constituencies.
Sabah’s 17th State Election saw several political veterans defeated despite long-standing profiles and local ties. Usno president Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia lost in Pintasan for the second consecutive time to Fairuz Renddan, now running as an independent, who retained the seat with a 1,070-vote majority.

Former chief minister Salleh Said Keruak also failed to defend Usukan, losing to Warisan’s Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis by 442 votes. In Bongawan, Parti Cinta Sabah president Tan Sri Anifah Aman was again defeated by Warisan’s Dr Daud Yusof. Of the 73 seats, GRS secured 29, Warisan 25, BN 6, independents 5, UPKO 3, STAR 2, while PN, KDM, and PH took one each.
