Costco Sues Trump Administration Over IEEPA Tariffs

Costco Wholesale has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, seeking a full refund of tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The company argues the law does not authorize presidents to set tariffs, making Trump’s “reciprocal” duties unlawful. 

Costco Sues Trump Administration

The Supreme Court is currently reviewing the legality of the tariff agenda, with justices expressing skepticism during oral arguments. Importers have paid nearly $90 billion under IEEPA tariffs, with total collections reaching $205 billion by October. 

Costco, which imports about a third of its U.S. sales, joins firms like Revlon, Kawasaki, and Yokohama Tire in challenging the duties.
