SHANGHAI: A high-speed electric vehicle was ripped in half after slamming into a concrete road divider in Shanghai, China, yesterday. Dashboard footage circulating on Weibo shows the EV accelerating in the left lane before colliding with another car, spinning out of control and striking the barrier.

The impact severed the rear section completely. Despite the dramatic damage, the female driver and her passenger suffered only minor injuries. The vehicle’s automatic emergency system alerted the manufacturer’s response team, who arrived swiftly and transported both to hospital in stable condition. Doors also opened automatically to allow safe exit. – Photo: Weibo
