Malaysia Needs RM225.9 Million to Repair Monsoon-Hit Federal Roads

The Ministry of Works (KKR) estimates RM225.9 million is required to repair federal roads damaged by the 2025/2026 Northeast Monsoon. Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said RM47.4 million is needed for non-pavement components and RM54.5 million for slope failures.

“New damage is reported almost daily due to continuous heavy rain,” he told reporters today after launching the CIDB Green Card. The ministry’s disaster operations room (‘Big Ben’) is now running 24/7. Existing allocations cover immediate repairs, but additional funding will be requested if needed. The monsoon, which began Nov 13, continues until March 2026.
