Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has ordered a complete and transparent investigation into the November 24 police shooting of three suspects in Durian Tunggal, Melaka, and all recent deaths in police custody nationwide.

Speaking after Friday prayers at Masjid Cyberjaya 10 today, Anwar stressed that while the government supports firm action against criminals, no one — including police officers — will be shielded if they violate the rule of law. He instructed the Inspector-General of Police to conduct open probes without favour. The federal police have taken over the Durian Tunggal case following family complaints, amid growing public concern over police conduct.
