Millions Risk Possible Budi95 Blacklisting as Traffic Summons Deadline Nears

Millions of motorists are racing against a year‑end deadline to settle long‑overdue traffic summonses, with authorities warning of blacklisting, court action, and even loss of the Budi95 fuel subsidy for those who fail to pay. JPJ reports 4.95 million unpaid summonses worth RM1.48 billion, while police summonses total nearly RM6.6 billion.

Despite discounts of 50–70% offered since November, only about 7% have been settled. From January 1, 2026, a new “pay fast, pay less” system will impose higher penalties for delays. Motorists who ignore the deadline risk being barred from renewing their licence or road tax and facing legal action.
